8 Common Types of Human Resources

If an organization chooses to hire people as their employees, then the following conditions are included as given below:

  • The entire employee must receive wages or salary from the organization according to their work.
  • Tax on the payment as imposed by the employer according to rules and regulations of the government.
  • On the basis of work at the workplace, work from home or mobile from one place to another.
  • The nature of the job can be full-time, part-time, apprentices, trainees or casual.
  • They are also directed to do when what and the way how the task has been done.

Each Human Resource varies according to its type. Every type of Human Resources has its own sort of importance and HR Department thinks about these human resources and provides the best in favour of the employee. Here are some of the main types of Human Resources which are as follows:

1. Permanent or fixed employees

These are fixed-term and permanent employees of the business and comprises of full time as well as part-time employees. The working tenure of a permanent employee who works on a full-time basis is the standard days of the week such as Monday to Friday and fixed from 9 am to 5 pm. Moreover, the part-time workers only work for a definite amount of time of three to four years on some of the weekdays only.

The part-time employees are working to earn their bread and butter by working a few hours a day. Such types of part-time workers are especially for the short term and most of them are students.

2. Casual Employees

These kinds of employees are only for a short period of time and they all are irregular, not at all permanent. However, their working term arrangements are for a long time. These casual workers work for a minimum of three to four hours work a week and it varies with their award.

They are working for the short notice of the time and there is no permanent guarantee of regular working hours. No such rule of leaving on personal, a career as well as the annual basis of such category of human resources. Sometimes, the organization will not give them any notice prior to their termination, unless and until they are covered under any type of project or agreement with a specified duration. These employees are better to fulfill the demands and requirements of any sort of irregular as well as short-term work. The payment of the casual workers is twenty to twenty-five per cent higher and sometimes, it includes some more per cent according to the agreement or award of the organization.

3. Apprentices or trainees

It is a type of training contract or agreement between the employee and the employer. Here, the learner is the employee who gains knowledge and tactics of working environment through this type of traineeship. The entire training is provided by the employer which is related to the area of interest and relevant field of the apprentice.

The age of an apprentice is not a matter and they can work on full-time as well as part-time basis too as he or she has already an educational qualification in the same area. They want to gain practical skills and how to work in an office atmosphere. The base of this training is the on-the-job or the off-job training and maybe a blend of both.

The wage of apprentice fluctuates on the basis of educational qualification, kind of training as well as an industry too. Generally, they are getting the same remuneration for the whole year as well as the requirements and the compensations are similar to that of other employees. Financial assistance is given to the companies who are giving training to the apprentice.

4. Administrative Human Resources

All the plans and policies of an organization are managed with the help of administrative manpower. They activate and implement all these policies in a better way and keep an eye over the entire tasks and activities within the premises of the organization. In addition to this, they are also responsible for performing the clerical work of the business firm.

They are entitled to perform some specific job duties and it requires no specialized skills as well as abilities to do all these tasks. A particular job skill is not required for such employees. They improve the practicality of all the plans and policies and its better implementation. All the activities at the workplace entirely control, handle, coordinate and direct by these employees. 5. Technical Human Resources

These employees are very opposite to the administrative manpower and work straightly opposite to these. They require some set of technical knowledge as well as skills and abilities to perform the associated job duties. Without any technical knowledge and experience, they are nothing to their job duties. As per the requirements of the organization, they appoint two types of employees in the technical field.

These are skilled and semi-skilled employees that work under the technical field of an organization. Skilled workers are a blend of deep knowledge and years of experience. On the other side, semi-skilled workers are those who do not have the relevant skills and knowledge in the same field and lack of proper knowledge and skills. Such types of employees need training at a great extent to perform their job in a proper manner. Hence, skilled workers help semi-skilled employees to fulfil their job duties and how to perform it in a better manner to generate accurate results.

6. Labour Hire

The workers for the organization are hired by the employment agency and the definite sum of money is charged by the employment agency from the organization for an agreed set of period. On the basis of the nature of the projects whether it is short term or long term, then they hire the labour from these agencies with specified skills and abilities.

These types of workers are good for the short term and they are not very loyal as well as sincere towards their work. They work as a temporary worker for earning some amount of money. Knowledge of these types of labours is never devoted to any organization and they take their high level of skills with them.  The wages and the entitlements of labour are given by the employment agency. The organization has to give some amount of commission or finder’s fee to the agency along with some additional expenses.

7. Hired Staff

Contractors, sub-contractors and independent contractors are included in hired staff. They are not the employees of the company and it is obvious that they are not getting any sort of salary and wages on behalf of the company but they receive invoices for their work. They sign a contract with the companies as well as industries with their own business number along with the insurance.

A set of the task is assigned to the hired staff such as designing a system and construction of buildings by the organization. Moreover, they work for more than more companies. They assigned their work to their subordinates and these groups of workers work for such contractors. All equipment and place for work are provided by these contractors to their subordinates.

8. Commission and Piece Rate Employees

In some certain circumstances, the organization pays to the employees on the basis of pay piece rates or commission payments to such type of employees. In short, you will get paid for the results and performance delivered to the company apart from weekly as well as hourly pay rate. Such types of employees are appointed on the basis of agreement and depend on the free agreement.
